About Me

I studied Fine arts at the Vaal Triangle Technikon in Vanderbijlpark in the early 1990’s and obtained my Higher Diploma in Fine arts. I have been involved in teaching art at high schools, a FET college, VUT as well as private art classes. I started The Art Centre from my home based studio in August 2007. At The Art Centre I offer art classes, workshops, healing art sessions and I create my own artworks.

Artist Statement

I create artworks that are inspired by my own experiences of places, people and events in my life. The various themes that I enjoy exploring tend to have a spiritual connection for me. The act of painting is a way of creating a connection to the Creator.

The outcome of the process of the act of painting can seem very varied, but it’s just a different journey I choose to take to create an artwork. Some works will be scenes from nature where I try to capture the place as a ‘holy’ place. Nature usually makes me feel closest to God and in painting nature I try to create images that make you still in the presence of God.

I also like to work intuitively and be guided by the process of painting and the events that are taking place in my life. For example I did various angel themed painting during a time when friends passed away.

After many years of working in oils and using various printmaking techniques I currently work mostly in acrylics as well as combining it with found objects. I enjoy letting the medium guide my strokes and expressions.

I create art as a Divine expression of my personal experiences.

What people say about my art:

“Every time I sit here that piece of art attracts my attention, it’s like its talking to me. The longer you look at this piece the more it speaks to you” – Lucille Kietzmann

The artworks I bought are displayed on a wall as you enter my home. The images are of places where we would rather be, but our rushed lives don’t let us. When I look at the 2 paintings I can see and smell the colours of the landscapes. – Audrey Ueckermann
