Recently I had my hearing restored with an operation. For the past 4 years I had to wear 2 hearing aids to be able to function in the world. Before then, I lost my hearing gradually over the last 25 years. 6 years ago I started to wear 1 hearing aid. Then tried a few things but basically without my hearing aids I couldn’t really function in the world.
So now I can hear. I’m not just bombarded by sound, feeling exhausted to find the relevant information in the sea of sound that hearing aids offered me. I can now hear and isolate the sound out of the ocean of sounds I hear. I can hear the voice, I can hear the message, I am no longer drifting in an ocean of sounds, grasping to find the information I need.
Sound distinction is something people take for granted, it’s new to me. I find my toes curl with joy when I sit back and listen, hearing someone talking to someone else and being able to focus on that and not all the other sounds. Something most people do without thinking or noticing.
Our lives tend to be the same way. In our everyday lives we don’t hear all the sounds anymore because we just so used to it. In the same way that my new hearing offers me new awareness, Creative Mindfulness can offer you new insights. We become so used to the flow of our lives that we sometimes also feel adrift. Creative Mindfulness is a way of finding clarity in your life by noticing the patterns of your life.
Join me to experience it.
